Alice Ann DeSloover, age 57 of Monroe, entered Eternal Life on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

She loved and celebrated life with her mother, Doris of Monroe; three brothers, Thomas (Robin) Desloover of Carleton, John (Karen) DeSloover of Monroe, and Lawrence (Phyllis) DeSloover of Dundee; four sisters, Rose (Art Spears) DeSloover of Farmington Hills, Cecilia (Ray) Hartle of Lewiston, Irene (David) Bland of Toledo, Ohio, and Sharon (Burt) Hellar of Portsmouth, Virginia; fourteen nieces and nephews, eighteen great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew; and her close dear friend Sr. Dorothy Jayne Krupp, OSF.

Alice became an associate of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Sylvania, Ohio on July 27th, 2001. She was active in RCIA ministry at St. Michael’s parish and cherished serving as a minister of Holy Communion and visiting the home bound.

She was employed 26 years as the manager of Kmart food service. Her later employment involved helping mentally challenged adults, and working in the office at St. Michael’s Church.

She loved to travel which included a trip to Hawaii, a Caribbean cruise, and many spiritual pilgrimages including a trip to Medjugorje. She also fulfilled a life-long desire to attend the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California in 2010.

Her family and friends will continue to celebrate her life and the love she shared with all of us.

We are so grateful for the wonderful care of the medical teams at University of Michigan as well as the Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, MI.

Friends may call from 3 – 8 p.m. Thursday in the Rupp Funeral Home.  The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. led by Sr. Dorothy Jayne Krupp, OSF.  Alice will lie instate at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Church where Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m.  Her uncle, Rev. Robert DeSloover and Rev. Stephen Vileo, pastor of St. Michael’s Church, will concelebrate.

Born June 30, 1953 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Alphonse and Doris (Burghardt) DeSloover.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister Catherine Gruber and an infant sister, Helen Louise DeSloover.
